In this session we talk about ACCEPTANCE.
In the previous session we talked about the first step in tackling anxiety which is to answer the ‘what if’ thoughts with ‘so what’. While this answer will help you not to get lost in the never ending vortex of anxiety, it will not dissipate the fight and flight response set in motion by the first thought.
In order to deal with the anxious feelings in your body, you need to learn to accept them for what they are: just physical sensations in your body.
Another important point we touch upon in this session is the importance of feeling all emotions (good and bad) and the explanation that all emotions have a purpose and an important role to play in our psychology. They should be listened to and not repressed as we often do.
Anxiety – as a proxy for fear signals to us that we are in a situation that we cannot accept or change. That is why, fear is a huge invitation for us to change the way we function. Fear is an invitation for us to grow, to start looking at the world in a new way and to be creative.
Inner Body Meditation
This 30 minutes guided meditation will put you into a state of calm and relaxation. You will be guided throughout. No previous experience or preparation is needed.
By listening to the recording every day you will start growing the capacity to remain an observer of your own thoughts and feelings. Thus, when anxiety flares up you will be able to observe your thoughts without engaging with them and also to experience your bodily sensations without labelling them as a warning for disaster.
When listening to this recording please find a comfortable position for your body and make sure you are not likely to be disturbed.
